There’s just something about that dewy look that gives off effortless but luminous, so of course, it’s trending. The best part about this new makeup trend is that you don’t even need to be a makeup artist to get it right, but it still isn’t always easy to get it right. The perfect dewy glow requires getting the balance between getting that all-day glow while not looking oily or shiny.

However, it takes some practice and the right products to get it right and avoid breakouts and looking oily. So, if your tween is struggling to achieve that perfect dewy glow, we’ve got you covered because, in this article, we’re going to show you exactly how to get the dewy makeup look right. Here are the steps you need to follow:

    Always prep the skin

More important than the makeup they’re using is the health of their skin. If their skin is hydrated and well looked after, their makeup will also look better. So, it’s essential to make sure they’re eating healthily, drinking plenty of water, and having a solid skincare routine that suits their skin type while maximising protection from the environment and pollutants.

    Use a tinted moisturiser

Remember that tween skin is different – it’s thinner and still learning to balance out sebum production and pH levels, which means it’s going to be more sensitive and prone to rashes and breakouts. So, unless your tween has a skin condition that needs more coverage, a tinted moisturiser will be perfect for helping them achieve a dewy look.

Go for a blush and highlighter with creamy formulas

A blush and highlighter will do the most to help your tween get that dewy look they’re going for, but it’s best to use ones with a creamy formula as opposed to a powdery option. Tweens can’t get enough of the Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, which is highly pigmented – so encourage them to think that less is definitely more. Using your fingertips to blend it into the skin around the cheekbones will create a soft, diffused look.

Add a bit of shimmer to the lips

With tween skin being so young, all they really need is a good lip gloss or tint to make them look like they’re wearing makeup. But if they really want to wear a tinted moisturiser, then a good lip gloss or tint will pull their makeup together.

Things to remember with tween makeup

We love the makeup movement and how it’s showing tweens and teens that makeup is about having fun and is a way to highlight your natural beauty, not cover it up. That’s why the dewy trend is such a great tween makeup look. As much as we want them to have fun with their skincare routine and makeup, it’s always important to remember these things when buying makeup for your tween:

    • Less is more – preteens really don’t need a lot of makeup at such a young age, so stick to a simple starter kit with lipgloss, some eyeshadow, a little bit of blush and maybe a tinted moisturiser. Products like full-coverage foundation, concealer, eyeliner and mascara will be too heavy and will most likely cause irritation to the skin and eye area
    • Look for gentle and lightweight products – with their skin being thin and still developing; tweens are prone to getting skin irritation, so you need to be extremely careful about what they’re putting on their face. Look for organic products that are fragrance-free and paraben-free, as these are less likely to cause irritation
    • Find age-appropriate makeup brands – tweens spending time on TikTok will probably beg you to buy them whatever is currently trending. However, what works for the influencers can be harmful to your child’s young skin. Rather stick to brands that cater specifically to tweens

    Final Thoughts

The dewy look is in! It’s fun and fresh and is perfect for your tween. It’s light and age-appropriate and really doesn’t require much makeup because they already have the youthful skin that everyone is trying to get with this look. Remember to put an emphasis on the fact that makeup should be about having fun and not something that they need in order to fit in.
